To redefine marriage is to redefine the bible.

In the beginning, God made male and female, Adam and Eve. If you study these two people out, Adam…the first Adam, is a type, a shadow of Jesus Christ, the last Adam. Eve is a type, a picture, of the church, Christ’s bride. When Eve died, the church died, was seperated from her husband, Adam. Adam, in turn, ate of the forbidden fruit, and died to be with his bride. Christ did the same for His bride, the church. The church, before they were added, were at enmity with God(Romans 8), in direct rebellion towards Him. Yet, in his lovingkindness, before we even drew our first breath, God chose us in Christ. Christ in turn, took our sins upon Himself, our shame, our humiliation, our condemnation, and bore them on the cross for us. He loved His bride, the church, so much that He tasted death for her(Ephesians 5:25b).

In Matthew 19, you can read, “The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?”(vss 3-5) God made the woman for the man. If you look at how men and women are made, it’s not rocket science to see that they were made for each other. There is no species on earth that I am aware of that two males or two females can produce offspring. It’s take one male and one female to procreate. When we are added to the fold, placed in Christ, we become “one flesh”, with Christ being our Head. In other words, God sees us through Christ. When God communed with them, He called them Adam. Adam called Eve by her name, but no where in the record of God can I find where God called Eve by her first name. Adam and Eve were “one flesh” in God’s sight, and He saw Eve through Adam. God sees us, those who are in Christ, through Jesus Christ. This is the biblical picture of physical marriage, as well as spiritual marriage.

In Matthew 22, Jesus told the parable of a king having a wedding supper. There was one who came in without a wedding garment on. He was cast out into outer darkness. This wedding garment is a picture of us being clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Our righteousness is like a filthy rag(picture a menstrual rag{Isaiah 64:6}), so we need to be clothed in His righteousness. In Luke 16, the Prodigal Son was given the best robe after his father ran out and hugged and kissed him. Again, he was clothed in the best his father had to offer.

Then there’s the story of Hosea and Gomer. God told Hosea to go and get himself a woman of whoredoms, and he married Gomer. Gomer continually played the harlot. She was his bride, yet she had another lover(s). That was us, His bride. We were His bride, and yet, we had another lover…satan. Here you can see Hosea as a picture of Christ, and Gomer as a picture of the church. Hosea bought Gomer back, she was his bride, yet he had to buy her back for 15 pieces of silver and 1.5 homers of barley. I heard a preacher say that one homer of barley was worth 10 pieces of silver…so Hosea bought Gomer back for, in essence, 30 pieces of silver. Sound familiar?

What I am getting at is that Jesus Christ didn’t just marry any and everyone, but solely His bride. You can read the Song of Solomon, and that is another picture of Christ and His bride, the church. In today’s society, it’s okay for men to marry men, and women to marry women. Sooner or later, if time goes on long enough, people will start marrying their pets, or I tend to believe they will. But in God’s eyes, relations between the same sexes is an abomination(Lev. 18:22, 20:13), and He is Immutable, so what was an abomination then, is still an abomination now. To approve of same sex marriage is to mar the very picture of salvation betwixt Christ and fallen man.

Then in Revelation 21, you can read this, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”(vss 1,2). So, to approve of same sex marriage is to approve of redefining salvation, in my opinion.

In Genesis 19, you can read where God was going to rain down fire and brimstone upon Sodom and Gomorrah. This was due to the fact they were living in a homosexual lifestyle(s). These men even wanted to “know” the angels that God had sent to get Lot and his family out before destroying those cities. We have to stand on this record of God, and let the world do as they may. All we can do is witness to them, and tell them it’s amoral to live the homosexual lifestyle, let alone approve of same sex marriage.

I will leave you with these few verses:

Romans 1:26,27 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”

Leviticus 18:22-25 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.”

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

1 Cor. 6 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.(vss 9,10){Now, those who have been called out of this lascivious lifestlye have a right to the Kingdom of God}.
